National Health and Medical Research Council finds no evidence to support homeopathy.

The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has just released a draft information paper: Evidence on the Effectiveness of Homeopathy for Treating Health Conditions.

Just as the UK House of Commons Science and Technology Committee found in 2010, the NHMRC expert committee found that there is no evidence that homeopathy is more effective than placebo for treating any health conditions.

Why are we reporting this news here? Some homeopaths use laboratory test results as part of their diagnostic approach and decisions about which homeopathic remedy to use as can be seen if you put the terms “homeopathy AND laboratory testing” into an Internet search engine. These may be conventional laboratory tests or unvalidated tests of the type we have described on this website.

In either case, money spent on such testing is going to be wasted if the treatment is no better than a placebo.
