Lymphoma
What is it?
Lymphomas are cncaers of the lymphatic system. It is not actually a single disease but rather a number of diseases grouped together by their common point of origin - the lymph nodes. Over the centuries, these diseases have been described and re-described, grouped in one way and then another, leading to confusion and contradictory naming conventions.

One reason for all of the changes has been the explosion of information about the functioning of the lymph nodes and their cells combined with an ever more sensitive set of diagnostic tests. Another reason for the difficulty is that, due to the complexity of the lymphatic system, there can be more than one location and more than one type of cell that is involved. For ease of explanation, all lymphomas can be divided into two major categories: Hodgkin's lymphoma and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
