Plasma free metanephrine: This test is used to help diagnose or rule out a phaeochromocytoma (tumour of the adrenal gland) and is performed on a blood sample.

and

Urine metanephrines: This test also helps in the diagnosis or ruling out of a phaeochromocytoma as well as other neuroendocrine tumours and is performed on a 24-hour urine sample.
