Lab Tests Online AU partners
Lab Tests Online AU is the product of a unique collaboration among professional societies representing the clinical laboratory community. The concept was originally conceived by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC), and launched in the United States of America as Lab Tests Online. The potential value of the site was subsequently identified by the Association for Clinical Biochemistry (ACB) and then by the Australasian Association of Clinical Biochemists (AACB). With funding from a grant from the Quality Use of Pathology Program of the Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing, it has been able to licence the material from Lab Tests Online and create a site tailored for the public "down under".

AACB The Australasian Association of Clinical Biochemists (AACB) was founded in 1961 and is the major professional society for practicing clinical biochemists in Australia and New Zealand. It is a full member of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) and Asian and Pacific Federation of Clinical Biochemistry (APFCB). The Association has scientists and medical trained pathologist members in all major pathology laboratories, in many university departments and in several invitro diagnostic companies. Domestically, the Association has a close realationship with the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) where we have around 100 members common to both societies. Internationally, we meet regularly with the Association for Clinical Biochemistry (ACB) and the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC).

The Association for Clinical Biochemistry (ACB) was founded in 1953, and is one of the oldest such Associations in the world. Based in the United Kingdom, it is a professional body dedicated to the practice and promotion of clinical science. The Association has medical and non-medical members in all major UK healthcare laboratories, in many university departments and in several commercial companies. The links with its Corporate Members leads to a fruitful relationship with the clinical diagnostics industry. The Association liaises with and is consulted by many national and international organisations on issues relating to Clinical Biochemistry.

Lab Tests Online Lab Tests Online is the original site developed in the USA by the AACC. The content was written in collaboration with professional groups from other clinical laboratory disciplines and was designed to help patients and carers understand better, those laboratory tests which are routinely used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

AACC The American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) is the principal association of professional laboratory scientists, including MDs and PhDs. Their members develop and perform tests conducted in hospital laboratories, clinics, medical centers and other health care settings. The AACC provides national and worldwide leadership in advancing the practice and profession of clinical laboratory medicine and its role in improving health care. AACC's mission includes educating the public about the value of laboratory testing with the overall goal of improving the public's health.

RCPA The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) Australasia's leading medical diagnostic organisation and promotes the science and practice of Pathology. Pathology is the medical specialty concerned with the study of the nature and causes of diseases. As a consequence it touches every facet of medicine. In fact it has been said that 'Medicine IS Pathology". The College has members in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.
